Sometimes...

Sometimes, Darren says really cute things...

Sometimes, Wrinkles hides behind the dresser when he knows he did something wrong... Like poop on the floor RIGHT after I took him out...

Sometimes, I buy Wrinkles really cute shirts that say, "Mommy's #1 Man..."

Sometimes, I go to DD's & buy some cute new things for cheap... Like this jacket for $15, this dress for $12 & this tank for $3...

Sometimes, I take a MILLION pictures of Wrinkles and he kinda resents me for it... Then he gets over it and gives me a MILLION kisses...

Until Next Time,
Kristen

Puppy Photoshoot

This weekend was pretty eventful.
Friday night was my roommates birthday so he threw a party and there were like 35 people in our itty bitty house. The party was okay... I was just glad my bff Kat was in town from San Antonio to enjoy the lameness with me!

Saturday we took Wrinkles to get his last round of shots in the morning & then headed home so I could start getting ready and setting up for my passion party. Yes, I hosted a Passion Party! Well... technically they called it a "slumber party." Whatever, same diff. It was reeeeeally fun! She was pretty funny & we learned some new stuff. But I ended up spending waaaaay too much money on goodies. Good thing I got 40% off my order since I hosted the party ;)
After the party the boys were allowed to come home again so we decided to order the UFC fights. Bones Jones was fighting & if you knew me you'd know I LOVE UFC! I have Darren to thank for that.. and I'm glad! Chael Sonnen is my fave fighter!!

Yesterday we cleaned up in the morning and decided to grab Outback for lunch. YUMMY!! Then we were gonna go see a movie but I had a brilliant idea... I said we should take Wrinkles to the park for the first time so he wouldn't be cooped up in his cage all day and Darren agreed. So we took Wrinkles to Meyer park... He LOVED it!! Here are some pictures I snapped while there:

He was as happy as could be! & so was I cause seeing him happy makes me a happy momma! :)

That's all I've got for tonight... Catch ya later!

Weight Loss Wednesday! & Big Brother Results...

It's Wednesday.. Which means it's the first time I'm doing a "weight loss wednesday" post! I've been working out/eating a little better since last wednesday. I'm proud to say I've lost FOUR pounds!! :)

I'm also proud to say that I'm actually enjoying going to the gym. We went last Wednesday, Friday, Sunday, Monday and today. Yesterday it felt weird not to work out! That's a good feeling! So I'll keep up the hard work & I'll keep you guys posted ;)

Now.. On to Big Brother. If you haven't watched it yet and don't want to know the results, STOP READING NOW!
I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo upset that Dan didn't win! He definitely deserved it.. Yes he lied... a lot... but he did what he had to do to make it to the end! At least he got second place. & I'm super happy that Frank won America's vote & 25K. He deserved it for sure.

Well that's it for today.. Keeping it short & sweet.

Until Next Time,
Kristen

Random random random

So I'm sitting here with a glass of wine, watching Awkward. Yes.. I do watch Awkward. I have to admit when I saw the previews a loong time ago I thought it looked like the stupidest show ever, but one day it was on & nothing else was so I watched it... and fell in love! Can't wait to see who Jenna picks! (Hopefully Maddie.)

Anywho. I have pinned over 200 recipes on pinterest. Well, 275 to be exact. And I've tried quite a few of them. The other night I tried "OMG chicken." I asked a few of my co-workers about it & they all said they had made it before & it was delicious. The only ingredients were chicken, mayo, parmesan cheese & breadcrumbs.. Sounds good, right? WRONG! It wasn't very good... The breading fell off pretty easily and it didn't have a whole lot of flavor. I even took step by step pictures so I could post the recipe and instructions on here but I'm doing you guys a favor by keeping them to myself.

Here's a glimpse into my weekend via instagram:

Top left: Me at work on casual Friday holding my shirt over my nose. There should REALLY be a rule against heating up fish in the microwaves at lunch. Especially since they're right next to my office! Gross!
Top Right: Me & my brother josh at bingo Saturday night.. He's cray cray.
Bottom left: Me & my sister courtney at bingo. She's even crazier. But reallllly funny! & little miss popular now that she's in 8th grade.
Bottom right: Wrinkles crawling right up to the camera. He's used to the bright flash in his face by now since I take 023849283 pictures of him ALL THE TIME!

Well... There you have it. I know I'm realllllllllly random, but hopefully you'll get used to it :)
Tomorrow is my "weekly weigh-in" so be sure to check back to see my progress!!

Until next time,
Kristen

The Six Month Challenge

I'm one of those people. You know, the ones that always say they're going to start a diet and start going to the gym and lose 10 pounds by Friday... Yeah, guilty.

Well, this time is a little different. I'm not going to promise ridiculous things like, "I'm giving up everything I love and eating nothing but vegetables." Well there are two problems with that statement. One, I refuse to give up everything I love because I believe that's one of the main reasons people fail at diets. If you tell yourself you can't have something, you're going to want it more. So, I will give up a few things like poptarts and ice-cream. Also, I will give up sodas and drink more water. That I can do.

As far as working out I'm ashamed to say I've been paying for a gym membership since January and I have never ONCE set foot in that gym. Talk about a waste of money. So guess what? I'm going to start actually going to the gym. At least three days a week. I know that doesn't sound like much, but compared to never ever ever working out it's something. One thing I don't want to happen.. I don't want to lose my boobs. Haha.

I weigh more than I ever have in my entire life and I hate it. It's about damn time I actually make an effort to do something about it.

My role model is Miranda Lambert. I love her music and I love her. I watched an interview with her where they asked her how it feels to be a little heavier than most other celebrities. She said she doesn't want to be skinny. She said she feels great when she's a toned, not flabby size eight. I completely agree with her. She's gorgeous! Not too skinny, but not fat. That's what I want NEED to get back to. Inspiration:

and I want Carrie Underwood's legs. I mean look at them!!!

I'm giving myself SIX MONTHS to get to where I want to be. And my blog is my way of holding myself accountable. I'll post updates every so often on my weight loss and how it's progressing.

The end result will hopefully make this come true:

Until Next Time,

A little bit about me & a craft..

Hiiiii y'all!

I figured I should tell you a few things about me, so here are 3 things I strongly dislike and 3 things I absolutely love.

I absolutely love taking extremely hot showers. Like to where it's almost unbearable.

I strongly dislike vegetables. I am seriously one of the pickiest eaters you will ever meet. I'm hoping my taste buds change one of these days so I will start to like more foods.

I absolutely love pinterest. I mean really, who doesn't?! I'm just grateful that pinterest came out before I get engaged, married or have kids! (You can follow me here: http://pinterest.com/kristen526/)

I strongly dislike how cold it is in my office at work. I mean 50 below zero. I have a personal heater under my desk and it stays on at ALL times and I wear a jacket every single day. Even though it's like 100 degrees outside...

I absolutely love finding a new tv show. My favorites are: Dexter, Breaking Bad, Lost, The Walking Dead, Grey's Anatomy, The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, and Big Brother. (Speaking of breaking bad.. Darren & I picked up these sweeeet shirts last weekend at the mall. If you watch breaking bad, you'll understand!!)

I strongly dislike having to wait a whole year for the next book in a series. Which is why I generally wait until a book series is finished to read it so I can finish it all in a week. (Exhibit A: The 50 Shades Trilogy. I've read the first two and I'm about a third of the way through the third. LOVE THEM!)

As far as Darren and I go, he is the love of my life. We have been dating since January of '09, so for about three and a half years. Although we talk about getting married ALL THE TIME, I told him NOT to propose until I get my braces off. I'm really really really really really self-concious about my teeth and I want them to be perfect whenever we finally do get engaged and get married. We're a little goofy sometimes, like here:

And we love love love our puppy, wrinkles. He's more than we ever thought he would be. Usually he looks at the camera, but apparently I take too many pictures and he's getting tired of it...

The other night I went to the dollar store and found some plain cream mugs that I thought would be perfect for a craft I saw on Pinterest. So I bought them and when I got home I grabbed a sharpie and pulled up the inspiration photo and wrote on Darren's mug.. Then I decided it would be cuter if instead of me writing on my own mug I had him do it. He was pretty hesitant because his hand writing isn't very good (sorry babe) but he said as long as I gave him something to look at he would do it... and it turned out realllllly good! I love them :)

To make these all you do is write on the mugs with a sharpie and bake them for 30 minutes at 350 degrees!

And incase you were wondering, inside those mugs are homemade pumpkin spice lattes with whipped cream and caramel on top... In my opinion they taste even better than Starbucks! That's a pretty big deal considering I LOVE LOVE LOVE Starbuck's pumpkin spice lattes!

Well, that's all I've got for now. Hopefully you know a little bit more about me and you want to come back for more! :)

Until next time,
Kristen

23 things to do before I turn 23

Hello all!
So, about 5 months ago I stumbled across a blog (I wish I could remember who's blog it was...) and I saw something she did that I really loved. She made a list of 33 things to do before she turned 33. It inspired me to make a list of my own. So... here is my list. I have until May 26th of 2013 to complete everything and I'll be tracking my progress every so often on my blog! :)

23 THINGS TO DO BEFORE I TURN 23
SKYDIVE – (I have ALWAYS wanted to skydive!)
EAT AT A CHINESE RESTAURANT (As silly as it sounds, I am the PICKIEST eater in the world… so eating at a Chinese restaurant is a big deal for me)
GO TO A [NICE] BEACH (Galveston does NOT count… It has to be a NICE beach)
READ A NEW BOOK SERIES (50 shades of grey – OBESSED!)
LOSE 15 POUNDS (I’m REALLY self-conscious about my weight these days. I mean, I’m not huge, but I’m just not completely comfortable with myself right now. I really need to get working on this one)
WORK ON PROJECT LIFE (I’ve seen lots of people pin things for “project life” & I think it’s so neat! I’ve started to do it… but it’s a lot to keep up with so I work on it whenever I have lots of extra time)
SAVE $10K (This is a biggie for me. I have ALWAYS been bad at saving money up until the last year or so and since I got a new job three months ago and DOUBLED my previous salary, it’s a lot easier to save now)
GO TO HOWL AT THE MOON (I’ve been to A piano bar, just not THIS piano bar. I’ve heard it’s the best and I really want to go)
RIDE A HORSE OR AN ELEPHANT (I’ve done both, but I’d like to do both again!)
GET BRACES (Now this is the BIGGEST one for me. If you know me, you know that the think I am most self-conscious about is my teeth. I have wanted braces ever since I can remember. I was told when I was twelve that I should wait a little while to see if my teeth moved at all because otherwise they would have to pull two teeth and they didn’t want to do that and well… my parents just never took me back. So finally on July 3rd of this year I got braces. (thanks to my mom for paying for them J) I got what are called “6 month smiles.” They’re a lot like normal braces except they’re stronger so they work a lot faster. The quote I got for normal braces was 3 years… My quote with 6 month smiles is 8 months. I should (hopefully) have my braces off in March!!! I CANNOT wait to have a beautiful smile like everyone else!)
COUPON EVERY WEEK (I learned to coupon a little over a year ago after I was inspired by the show “extreme couponing.” And while I’m definitely not “extreme” by any means, I can get a good amount of stuff for free when I take the time to sit down and plan it all out.)
GO BACK TO VEGAS (I went to Vegas last year for my 21st birthday and LOVED it! I can’t wait to go back!)
GET A COMMISSION CHECK OVER $2000 (My commission checks are generally decent, but not near $2000, it’s a personal goal for myself.)
GET ALL A’S AT LEAST ONE SEMESTER (Self explanatory. I’m not in school this semester, but I will be going back for a mini-mester this winter and I plan on getting all A’s for sure.)
WATCH SAVING PRIVATE RYAN (I think I’m the only person on the planet who hasn’t seen this movie so I’m definitely going to watch it before I turn 23!)
GO ON A DAY OR NIGHT TRIP TO LOUISIANA (Ever since Vegas I’ve wanted to go to Louisiana for a day or night to gamble. Well, Darren and I went on a day trip one weekend last month to Coushatta and the next weekend we went on a night trip! It was so much fun!)
DO THE 52 DESSERT CHALLENGE (I saw this thing called the “52 cupcake challenge” on a blog about 6 months ago and I was inspired. Although I decided I want to make it a general dessert challenge versus just cupcakes. I plan on starting NEXT weekend!)
GET A NEW CAMERA (My brother’s gerbil chewed my camera cord about a year ago and they don’t sell the cord by itself so I had to buy a whole new camera. I FINALLY bought one back in May when I went to San Marcos and I LOVE it!)
BUY PHILLIP PHILLIPS CD (Phil was my favorite on American Idol from the beginning and I am SOOOOO proud and happy that he won! I mean come on, after hearing him sing Usher, I was sold! Haha. I’ll definitely be buying his CD when it comes out!)
LEARN TO SEW (I’ve always wanted to learn, and now that I’ve got pinterest showing all kinds of DIY sewing projects I really want to learn!)
GO ON A CRUISE (This will be coming true in November! Darren’s birthday falls on Thanksgiving this year and we’re taking a Caribbean cruise with my family for a week!)
SEE JASON ALDEAN & LUKE BRYAN (I don’t think I need to say anything here. It’s gonna be an AMAZING concert!)
GET A PUG (We’ve been talking about getting a pug for years now and since we FINALLY moved in together in June we finally got our baby boy on August 11th!!)

Well, there you have it! I hope you check back soon!

Until next time,
Kristen

My Very First Blog Post!

Hi everybody and welcome to my blog! I've been wanting to start a blog for a while and I've finally taken the time to start one! I'm really excited to start blogging which is funny because I never really thought about doing a blog until a few months ago when I was on Pinterest (go figure) and I clicked on a link and it lead me to a girl named Katie's blog, mykeepcalmandcarryon.com . Well, after I looked at what I had originally gone there to see, I kept reading and reading and really enjoyed her blog. Over the next several weeks I was continuously checking her blog along with a few others, getting ideas and inspiration for a blog of my own.

I'll mainly be blogging about everyday stuff... Like my boyfriend of over three and a half years (and love of my life), Darren :

Our new puppy, Wrinkles (aka our son) :

My friends (below are my very best friends, Kat, Jenny & Nana, Chloe, & Shelby) :

My family (below are my brother, mom, & my sister) :

Also my job, fashion, recipes, crafts, along with about a million other things I'm sure!

I hope you've enjoyed what you've seen so far and you'll check back soon!

Until Next Time,
Kristen
